The Museum Interpreter is responsible for ensuring a high-quality experience for visitors to the Community Waterfront Heritage Centre (CWHC). They will do so by providing accurate and interesting historic, local and tourism-based information and responding accurately to public queries, in a friendly, professional manner. They will provide customer service and deliver programs for museum patrons. The successful candidate can work independently and as part of a team and shows initiative in carrying out the duties of this position.
Eligibility/Qualifications:
- Age 15 to 30 years old
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Weekend availability is an asset
Responsibilities:
- Provide visitor services for museum patrons
- Interpret museum exhibits and displays for visitors
- Handle transactions for donations, gift shop sales, etc.
- Assist with researching and developing programs and exhibitions
- Improving, updating, and innovating the museum's interactive displays
- Assist with special events, programs, and fundraising activities
- Representing the museum at offsite events
- Creating online content for the museum's website, social media, and online exhibitions
- Other duties as required
