About Anika Youth Services
Anika Youth Services (AYS) supports at-risk youth in the Surrey and Langley areas through wrap-around services, including long-term housing, outreach support, and life skills programming. We create individualized care plans that address each youth’s mental health, social, behavioural, and emotional needs.
We are a collaborative, team-based organization where staff at every level work together to support some of the most vulnerable youth in our community.
Attachment theory, trauma-informed practice, crisis management, and life-skills development are the foundation of our work. This role offers extensive frontline experience and the opportunity to make a meaningful, lasting impact.
Positions We Are Hiring For
1. Addiction Support Worker – Full Time
- Hours: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Schedule: 4 days on / 4 days off (rotating through all days of the week)
- Program: Low-barrier housing program using a harm-reduction approach
2. Awake Overnight Youth Worker – Full Time
- Hours: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Schedule: 4 days on / 4 days off (rotating through all days of the week)
3. Awake Overnight Youth Worker – On-Call / Casual
- Hours: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Availability: Minimum of 2 days per week
- Shifts may be offered in advance or day-of
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma in Child & Youth Care, Psychology, Criminology, or a related social services field (minimum)
- Minimum 2 years of directly related experience
- Strong understanding of mental health, substance use, attachment, and trauma-informed practice
- Valid Class 7 Driver’s License and reliable vehicle
- Standard First Aid Level 1 with CPR
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Strong relational and communication skills with youth, coworkers, and stakeholders
- Culturally competent and respectful practice
- Ability to complete basic household duties (budgeting, grocery shopping, meal prep, cleaning) and teach life skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong conflict resolution, crisis management, time management, organizational, and computer skills
Required Knowledge & Experience
Successful candidates will have experience and understanding of:
- Working with vulnerable populations, including youth in active addiction
- Harm reduction principles
- Trauma-informed and attachment-based practice
- Relationship-building and rapport development
- Barriers faced by individuals experiencing substance use and mental health challenges
- Community, social, and health resources
