The Role
The Recreation Therapist is part of an interdisciplinary team delivering therapeutic recreation programs that enhance residents’ physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual wellbeing. You will assess needs, plan and lead programs, support engagement, and contribute to a positive, inclusive community.What You’ll Do
· Assess residents’ abilities, interests, and goals
· Develop and deliver individualized and group therapeutic recreation programs
· Use trauma‑informed, dementia‑informed, and culturally safe practices
· Encourage participation and meaningful engagement
· Collaborate with families, staff, volunteers, and community partners
· Document assessments, care plans, and progress notes
· Support and mentor Activity Workers, students, and volunteers
· Maintain safe equipment, program spaces, and vehicles
· Participate in care conferences, training, and quality improvement initiatives
What You Bring
· Degree in Therapeutic Recreation
· Eligibility for BCTRA membership
· Experience supporting adults with cognitive and/or physical impairments
· Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
· Ability to adapt programs to diverse needs and abilities
· Valid BC Class 4 Driver’s License (or willingness to obtain)
· Ability to safely operate passenger and wheelchair‑accessible vans
