We are currently seeking an International Admissions Assistant to join our KPU International team.
Job Overview
The International Admissions Assistant evaluates applications, transcripts, and supporting documentation for admissions and transfer credit in accordance with established policies and articulation agreements. The primary responsibilities of the International Admissions Assistant (IAA) include providing support to the Admissions Coordinators, the Transfer Credit Coordinator, and the Recruiters. As a member of the International team, the International Admissions Assistant (IAA) supports current and prospective students with general inquiries and processes various documentation as required.
Education and Experience
Successful completion of an undergraduate Diploma.
Minimum two years of experience working with international students, including an understanding of other cultures and the ability to communicate in a cross-cultural working environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to build and maintain positive, cooperative, and service-oriented relationships with internal units with diverse situations and people.
Oral and written fluency in English and a secondary language in one of KPU’s target markets is required. The language requirements for the open role will be specified in the job posting.
Ability to multi-task, apply organizational skills to meet deadlines, and use problem-solving skills.
Ability to exercise a high level of initiative and responsibility, work independently, establish own priorities, and meet deadlines.
In-depth knowledge of admission and registration processes and the ability to follow established processes. Ability to analyze and recommend improvements in business processes, practices, policies, and procedures.
Demonstrated working knowledge of KPU programs as well as policies and processes relating to the current application, admission, and transfer processes.
Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the BC transfer system and transfer credit articulation processes.
Demonstrated experience assessing secondary and post-secondary transcripts for admissions and transfer credits.
Demonstrated working experience with and knowledge of International Admissions processes, international student services, immigration regulations, and transition programs.
Demonstrated proficiency with Student BANNER (intermediate level preferred) or a similar records-based system.
Demonstrated knowledge of basic Math.
Working knowledge of IRCC regulations and compliance requirements impacting international admissions processes
Demonstrated ability to evaluate international academic credentials and apply country specific grading equivalencies, especially in mature markets where KPU recruit international students from
Ability to assess the authenticity and completeness of international academic documentation
Excellent cross-cultural skills - proven ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically diverse population.
Proven ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner in a demanding, high-stress, fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Aptitude for exacting and detail-oriented work.
Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong computer skills, including MS Word and Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
Ability to travel and/or work at various campuses.
Minimum of 45 wpm keyboarding skills with a high degree of accuracy.
Able to lift and carry materials in the range of 30 to 50 lbs.Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required.
As per the KPU-BCGEU Collective Agreement, qualified internal applicants within the BCGEU bargaining unit are given first consideration in filling this position. Salary Information
Salary and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
