Behavioural Support Leader
Marpole-Oakridge Community Association is seeking a responsible and organized individual to support day camp participants requiring additional assistance to ensure a positive and inclusive summer camp experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Recreation Programmer II, Community Youth Worker, and Access Services to support inclusive day camp programming
- Adapt activities, communication methods, and programming to meet diverse needs
- Participate in daily activities and out-trips; effectively manage challenging behaviours
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, providing updates and weekly highlights
- Support volunteer training and submit a final program report with recommendations
Qualifications:
- Experience in a day camp or related setting
- Ability to plan and adapt age-appropriate activities (ages 6–14), supporting neurodiverse participants
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a diverse community
- Current First Aid and CPR-C certification
- Administrative and reporting skills
Conditions of Employment:
- Successful Police Information Check
- Emergency or Standard First Aid and CPR-C
- Grade 12 completion; experience supporting individuals with disabilities required; related post-secondary education an asset
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
Compensation & Schedule:
Rate of Pay: $26/hour + 4% in lieu of vacation
Term: Full-time, 8 weeks (July 6–August 28), 35 hours/week, Monday–Friday; additional part-time hours may be required
**Funding for this position is dependent on Canada Summer Jobs program approval.**
