Retail Associate - The Rubber Duck Museum (Tsawwassen Mills)
Part-Time | $18.25 per hour | Ongoing / Year-Round
The Rubber Duck Museum is hiring a part-time Retail Associate to join our team at Tsawwassen Mills. We are a one-of-a-kind museum and gift shop with a warm, family-focused atmosphere, clear procedures, and a professional retail environment. This is a long-term, year-round position, not a seasonal or summer job.
What makes this role special
Our associates are the face of the museum. You are not just running a till. You are helping guests discover the perfect duck and giving them a visit they remember. Picture a guest who mentions their friend is a cheerleader with a birthday coming up. A great associate lights up, walks them over, and finds the cheer duck. Noticing those small details and running with them is exactly what we are looking for.
Who we're looking for
- Enthusiastic, curious, and eager to learn the stories behind our ducks and exhibits
- Warm and confident engaging guests, asking questions, and making thoughtful recommendations
- Reliable and self-directed, comfortable running the store on your own during your shift
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 lb
- Retail or cash-handling experience is an asset but not required
Requirements
- Must be 19 years of age or older. This is a firm requirement. Our associates often work independently and are solely responsible for the store during their shifts.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
Availability (please read carefully)
This is an ongoing role, and candidates with high availability will be given preference. We need someone who can commit long-term and work most shifts across the week. Sunday and Monday availability is essential, along with evenings, weekdays, and peak and holiday periods. As a mall-based retailer, weekend and holiday coverage is a core part of the job. Average weekly hours are 15 to 20. If your availability is limited to only a few set days, this likely is not the right fit.
What you'll do
- Welcome guests warmly and create a friendly, engaging experience
- Operate the cash register and handle transactions accurately
- Help guests find the right duck and share the stories behind our exhibits
- Restock shelves and maintain organized, attractive displays
- Support daily store upkeep and keep the workspace clean
Training
New hires complete 2 to 3 paid training shifts with an experienced team member before working independently. Training covers our POS system, store procedures, and the museum experience so you can confidently help guests from day one.
We provide
- Paid training
- Employee discount
To apply
Submit your resume and your general weekly availability through Indeed, or email [email protected] with the subject line "Retail Associate - Tsawwassen Mills." Please confirm in your application that you are 19 or older and that you can work Sundays and Mondays.
