Position Overview
The Field Service Technician Propane / LP is responsible for the on‑site installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and servicing of propane (LP) and compressed gas systems. This role requires hands‑on technical expertise, strong problem‑solving ability, and the ability to work independently at customer locations.
The technician will work with LP tickets, propane systems, pumps, compressors, and related equipment, and will support safe and compliant field operations in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and internal procedures.
Responsibilities
1. Field Service & Technical Support
- Perform on‑site service, installation, maintenance, and repair of propane (LP) systems and related equipment
- Troubleshoot system issues and identify appropriate corrective actions
- Inspect propane installations to ensure safe operation and compliance with applicable standards
- Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers related to propane system operation and safety
2. LP Ticket & Documentation
- Complete and manage required LP tickets and service documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Record work performed, materials used, and any follow‑up actions required
- Ensure documentation meets internal requirements and regulatory expectations
3. Equipment Handling (Pumps & Compressors)
- Install, service, and maintain propane pumps, compressors, and associated mechanical equipment
- Perform inspections and basic diagnostics on pumping and compression systems
- Identify equipment performance issues and escalate complex repairs as required
- Support preventative maintenance activities to reduce system downtime
4. Installation & Maintenance
- Install propane tanks, piping, regulators, valves, and related components
- Perform routine maintenance, testing, and inspections of liquid propane systems
- Assist with system modifications, upgrades, and commissioning activities
- Ensure installations and repairs are completed according to specifications and safety requirements
5. Safety & Compliance
- Perform all work in compliance with applicable safety standards, codes, and regulations
- Follow company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices at all times
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses
- Participate in required safety training and certifications
6. Communication & Coordination
- Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and office staff regarding service activities
- Coordinate with operations and office teams regarding scheduling, materials, and follow‑up work
- Provide technical input and feedback based on field observations
Qualifications & Experience
- Valid G2 Gas Technician certification (Ontario)
- Experience working with liquid propane (LP) systems
- Hands‑on experience with propane pumps and compressors
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and system layouts
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
- Valid driver’s licence with a driving record acceptable to company insurance requirements
Pay: $32.00-$40.00 per hour
