Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a <PERSON>, retail wholesale specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for handling food products with precision and care, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality. Your expertise in food preparation, butchery, and customer service will help us deliver exceptional products to our customers while maintaining efficient retail and wholesale operations.
Responsibilities
- Cut, trim, bone and otherwise prepare custom and/or standard cuts of meat, poultry, fish and shellfish for sale at self-serve counters or according to customers' orders
- Prepare meat for special displays and/or delivery
- Shape, lace and tie roasts and other meats, poultry or fish and may wrap or package fresh or frozen or prepared meats
- Manage inventory, keep records of sales and determine amount, product line and freshness of products according to company and customer requirements
- Adhere to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and food safety standards
- Ensure food storage conditions are adequate
- May supervise, direct work or train other butchers, meat cutters or fishmongers.
- Proven experience in the food industry, particularly in food preparation or kitchen environments
Requirements
- Knowledge of butchery techniques and meat cutting processes
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and proper handling procedures
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable attitude
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail wholesale setting
- Prior work in a grocery or butcher shop is required
- Heavy lifting required (up to 75lbs )
- Able to work in cold environment
- Extended periods of standing/walking
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety at all times
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
