Are you looking to join a growing transportation company that puts people first? Based in Dartmouth, NS, Classic Freight Transport is looking for a new team mate to jump into the role of Transportation Dispatcher/Planner . We are located in HRM.
This person will be responsible for coordinating the daily operations of our transportation services. This role involves scheduling drivers, managing routes, handling customer inquiries, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and dispatch drivers to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs.
- Coordinate and monitor the daily operations of the transportation team.
- Ensure efficient route planning to optimize delivery times and reduce fuel costs.
- Communicate with drivers throughout their shifts to monitor progress and address any issues.
- Maintain accurate records of driver activities, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery times.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any transportation-related issues promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and transportation laws.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics, transportation, or a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience as a dispatcher or in a similar role within the transportation industry.
- Strong knowledge of transportation systems, regulations, and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using dispatch software and other relevant computer applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
