Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Hand to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the sites, ensuring that work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. As a Lead Hand, you will be responsible for guiding a team of workers, managing project timelines, and maintaining effective communication between all stakeholders.
Duties
- Supervise daily operations on the site to ensure adherence to project specifications and timelines.
- Driving a truck and trailer to each site with the Team
- Utilize management software such as Go Canvas to track project progress and manage documentation.
- Conduct regular quality control inspections to ensure that all work meets industry standards.
- Provide training and support to team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Address any issues or conflicts that arise on-site promptly and effectively.
- Know how to operate all equipment safely and effectively to ensure no damage to it or yourself
- When machines are down, use the appropriate form on GoCanvas App “Equipment Repair Request” form to report all unusable equipment.
- Reporting all damages to Employer; property, equipment, vehicles and/or trailers – immediately. Filling out the required paperwork.
- Ensure all trailers have the proper equipment required before leaving the yard
- Ensure your Team is working efficiently at every site
- Arrive to shop on time; you are who the Team looks up to
- Can deliver constructive feedback to my Team when required.
- Open communication with Employer; provide feedback at end of week of how the Team are performing.
- Ensuring you provide an open end of communication with your Employer.
Skills
- Understand how to safely operate all pieces of equipment; landscaping and snow removal
- Proven supervisory skills with the ability to lead a diverse team effectively.
- Familiarity with quality control processes in the landscaping and snow removal industry.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with team members and stakeholders.
- You will provide the proper mentoring and/or coaching to new and old team members
- You will be sure to share your experience(s). As a good crew lead, you will be sure to share your wisdom, knowledge and experience with your Team, which will help them perform better. This will also strengthen the bond and the trust between all of us.
- You will be hands on and not always delegate. This will set an example to the Team about taking up challenges and about how any work at TopNotch is important.
- You will ensure there is enough trust and openness between your Team and you and therefore they will not hesitate in approaching you with their concerns and/or problems.
- I will be a role model for my Team; arrive to the shop on time, dress appropriately for the weather etc.
- As a crew lead, I must communicate clearly and correctly to avoid misunderstandings and frustrations with my team and my Employer. When receiving information from my Employer and my team I will make sure I receive it correctly – There is no harm in asking again if necessary.

Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour
