About Us:
We are currently seeking a dedicated Centre Cook to join our team at our Komoka location. As a vital member of our childcare facility, you will play a crucial role in providing nutritious meals and snacks to support the health and well-being of the children in our care.
Kitchen Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare nutritious and balanced menus in accordance with the Canada Food Guide, taking into consideration dietary restrictions and allergies of children.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic kitchen environment at all times, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Deliver and collect lunch/snack trays to/from all on-site programs efficiently.
- Complete thorough clean-up after each meal, including dishes, countertops, and equipment.
- Conduct regular inventory of kitchen supplies and equipment, and ensure timely ordering and purchasing as needed.
Ordering/Purchasing:
- Responsible for purchasing groceries and household supplies within the allocated budget, in consultation with the Centre Supervisor.
- Efficiently unpack and check orders, ensuring accuracy and quality of products.
- Maintain proper documentation of all receipts related to purchases, following established procedures.
Program Support & Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain open communication with colleagues and parents regarding children’s dietary needs, restrictions, and allergies.
- Provide assistance in administering first aid when required.
- Participate in fire drills and emergency procedures to ensure the safety of children and staff.
- Assist in childcare programs as needed to support child-staff ratios, including covering educator lunches.
- Attend staff meetings as required to stay updated on centre policies and procedures.
- Maintaining common areas to ensure a clean and welcoming environment for children , families and staff.
Wage:
- Additional funding provided through a government wage enhancement grant for time spent in the classroom (up to 4 hours per day)
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in food preparation and kitchen management preferred.
- Knowledge of nutrition guidelines and dietary requirements for children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain).
