Where You’ll Add Value
The Manager, Accounting is accountable to the Controller for overseeing performance of a variety of accounting functions for an assigned portfolio ensuring the integrity of all financial information is recorded in strict compliance with corporate policies and procedures and existing internal controls.
How You’ll Make a Difference
1. General Accounting
Responsible for and is personally involved in the day-to-day accounting activities, including analyzing records, preparing financial statements and liaising with various departments, peers, service providers and executives, to ensure the integrity of all information recorded and accurate reflection of the financial state of a given portfolio.
2. Cash Management
Oversees the analysis and monitoring of cash requirements for mortgages, development projects, capital expenditures, distributions, acquisition, disposition, and any other capital cash requirements, in addition to liaising with management staff and, as directed, with external banking partners to resolve any other cash requirements.
3. Reconciliations
Oversees the preparation and approves monthly/quarterly accounting, compliance and vendor/tenant reconciliations and ensures closure of any steps required to resolve. As assigned, prepares and/or reviews calculations for recovery of operating costs from tenants, including interpreting the financial aspects of lease clauses relating to recovery of costs.
4. Continuous Improvement
Reviews, contributes to the development and implementation of company-wide policies and procedures within the accounting team and across functional lines , in order to improve efficiency as well as recommend any necessary changes to reflect changing business process or external accounting practices and regulations environment.
5. Stakeholder Relationships
Effectively communicates and develops relationships with various internal/external functions to ensure timely submission of information in accordance with various business processes and to provide responsive and high- quality service, advice and assistance to internal client groups, while providing support when complex accounting issues arise.
6. Budgeting and Reforecasting
Communicates and oversees the annual budgeting/quarterly forecasting plan and year-end timelines to the accounting team , while coordinating and planning schedules to ensure a timely close and proper review/sign off of statements.
7. Accounting Reporting Processes
Oversees the accounting reporting process and provides insight into discrepancies and variances to ensure the integrity of reports, while also working with the Information Technology group to enhance current report formats or create new reports in order to better meet the needs of end user groups.
8. Management and Development of Staff
Is responsible for hiring, on-the-job training, managing and coaching of property accounting personnel.
9. Special Projects
Assists or completes ad hoc projects assigned by Manager or Controller (ex. assisting with the research, development and implementation of emerging technical accounting requirements or processes) to ensure that the corporate finance group is complying with current standards and is prepared for any changes to such standards in the future.

The Expertise You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. Business, Accounting, etc.) or equivalent
Minimum of 7 years of relevant accounting experience with exposure to lease/revenue accounting in a real estate setting
Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MS Office applications
Working knowledge of internal controls.
Accounting Designation or enrollment in the program to achieve an accounting designation.

Annualized Base Salary Range: $110,000-$120,000 CAD.

The salary range listed for this position reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation offered may vary and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, skills, certifications, internal pay equity and business needs.
