Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking an experienced, dedicated and dynamic Student Education Lead to provide leadership, oversight and advancement of the APL Student Education Program. This position oversees practicum laboratory education programs in multiple sites across Alberta for Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLT), Combined Laboratory & Xray Technologists (CLXT), and Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLA). This position supports the APL Student Education Program; therefore, the work location is negotiable throughout the province. As the Education portfolio operates at a provincial level, occasional travel is required to support staff and students.
Reporting to the Quality Management System & Education Manager, the Student Education Lead works with a high degree of independence and is responsible for coordinating and enhancing clinical practicum experiences in collaboration with post-secondary institutions and laboratory training sites. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality, consistent, and compliant education delivery while supporting students, preceptors, operations, the Student Education Team and other internal and external stakeholders. This position develops and implements practicum frameworks and processes ensuring alignment with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements and organizational policies. The Student Education Lead develops and manages various initiatives and provides leadership to develop plans and processes for the coordination and delivery of student placements and leads the implementation of assigned projects. As such, this position requires occasional travel. This position provides advice and direction to clients within its specialty function and scope.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the last ten (10) years in a clinical laboratory setting, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role. Formal certificate in Process Improvement (e.g., AIW Green Belt) and/or Formal certificate in Change Management (e.g., ProSCI), and/or Project Management. Formal education in leadership. Formal education in adult learning.
