Director of Business OperationsPosition Summary
The Director of Business Operations is responsible for overseeing the organization's day-to-day business operations, including administration, finance, marketing, sponsorship, ticketing, merchandise, events, community relations, and staff management. Working closely with senior leadership, hockey operations, sponsors, billet families, and community partners, this role helps drive organizational success both on and off the ice.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness & Financial Operations
- Assist with annual budgeting, financial monitoring, and operational reporting.
- Oversee revenue streams including ticket sales, sponsorships, merchandise, camps, and events.
- Manage cash handling, deposits, invoicing, payroll approvals, timesheets, and billet payments.
- Liaise with accountants, vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, league requirements, and employment regulations.
Marketing, Sponsorship & Fan Engagement
- Develop and execute marketing and promotional strategies.
- Oversee website, social media, advertising, and fan engagement initiatives.
- Support sponsorship sales, activations, renewals, and partnership fulfillment.
- Coordinate theme nights, fundraising initiatives, community outreach, and promotional campaigns.
Ticketing & Merchandise
- Manage ticketing operations, pricing strategies, season ticket campaigns, and reporting.
- Oversee merchandise ordering, inventory management, retail operations, and sales performance.
Staff & Operations Management
- Lead, supervise, and support all business operations staff.
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, onboarding, training, and performance management.
- Manage game-day operations, facility logistics, event execution, and operational planning.
- Work closely with hockey operations to support team travel, equipment, and administrative needs.
Billet, Camp & Community Relations
- Support billet family relations, events, and monthly payment administration.
- Oversee hockey school and camp registrations, communications, and promotions.
- Represent the organization at community events, sponsor functions, and fundraising activities, including the annual golf tournament.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in sports administration, business operations, marketing, event management, or a related field is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, ticketing systems, POS systems, and social media platforms.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Working Conditions
- Must be willing to relocate to Salmon Arm, BC.
- Regular evening and weekend work required, particularly during hockey season and events.
- Ability to lift and move merchandise, event equipment, and operational supplies.
- Combination of office administration and hands-on game-day/event operations.
- Attendance at games, community events, sponsor functions, league meetings, and team activities is required.
