French Tutor Wanted
Position: Part-Time French Tutor (Grade 9–12)
Location: Scarborough, Toronto, Ontario (In-Person )
About Us
Proton Learning Centre is a well-established tutoring centre dedicated to helping students achieve academic excellence. We are seeking an experienced and passionate French tutor to teach high school students following the Ontario curriculum, including students enrolled in IB (International Baccalaureate) French programs.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have:
- A university degree in French, French Language, French Literature, French Education, or a closely related field; or
- A recognized French language qualification or diploma (e.g., DELF, DALF, TEF, TCF, or equivalent).
- Strong command of spoken and written French.
- Excellent English communication skills.
Required Experience
Applicants should have:
- Previous experience tutoring or teaching high school French (Grades 9–12) in Canada.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Secondary School French curriculum.
- Experience teaching:
- Core French
- Extended French (preferred)
- French Immersion (preferred)
- International Baccalaureate (IB) French (highly preferred)
- Ability to prepare students for:
- School assessments
- Unit tests
- Midterms and final exams
- AP or IB assessments (if applicable)
Responsibilities
- Teach French to students in Grades 9–12.
- Prepare customized lesson plans based on each student's needs.
- Explain grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and oral communication.
- Help students improve speaking confidence and pronunciation.
- Assign and review homework.
- Track student progress and communicate with parents when required.
- Prepare students for school exams and IB internal/external assessments.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum expectations.
- Knowledge of IB French Language B and French Ab Initio curriculum.
- Ability to motivate and engage teenagers.
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
Schedule
- Weekday evenings
- Saturday and/or Sunday
- Flexible part-time hours based on student enrollment.
Compensation
Competitive hourly rate based on qualifications and experience.
