About SuOn Academy
SuOn Academy is an Ontario Ministry of Education–inspected private high school serving Grades 9–12 (BSID#667183).
To support students interested in developing technology skills, we offer a school-based Academic Support Program that provides structured computer science and digital literacy instruction for youth in Grades 7–12 from our school community.
We are seeking a Summer camp Computer Science & Technology Instructor to support these technology skill-building sessions.
Position Overview
The instructor will lead technology-focused learning sessions covering programming fundamentals, computational thinking, senior high-school computer science concepts, and introductory AI literacy.
All sessions are delivered in small groups on campus using school-provided instructional materials.
This role suits candidates with strong CS fundamentals and an interest in helping youth gain confidence in technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured technology instruction using school-provided lesson frameworks
- Teach programming basics (Python; Java familiarity an asset) and computational thinking
- Support senior students with Ontario high-school computer science topics
- Lead guided activities involving beginner-friendly AI tools and responsible digital literacy
- Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and project-based learning
- Provide constructive feedback on student progress
- Maintain an organized and positive classroom environment
- Collaborate with the program coordinator as needed
Qualifications
Required
- Strong proficiency in programming (Python required; Java preferred)
- Solid understanding of high-school level computer science concepts
- Ability to explain technical topics clearly to youth learners
- University-level study in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Preferred
- Experience teaching or mentoring youth in technology or STEM
- Familiarity with Ontario ICS3U/ICS4U expectations
- Experience guiding students through beginner AI tools or digital literacy activities
- Ability to support multilingual and international learners
