Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our healthcare team. The Pharmacy Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy staff by assisting with medication preparation, inventory management, and providing excellent patient care. This position requires strong communication skills and a solid understanding of medical terminology to ensure the safe and effective delivery of pharmaceutical services.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
- Manage inventory by monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and ensuring proper storage of medications.
- Provide exceptional patient care by answering questions, addressing concerns, and guiding patients through medication administration processes.
- Maintain accurate records of medication distribution and patient interactions.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication regarding patient needs and medication therapies.
- Uphold cleanliness and organization within the pharmacy environment to promote safety and efficiency.
- Stay informed about new medications, medical terminology, and pharmacy practices to enhance service delivery.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in Alberta pharmacy setting is preferred.
- Compounding experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with medication administration processes and medical terminology is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, pharmacists, and healthcare team members.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all regulatory requirements within the pharmacy practice.
