Position Overview:We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated male Support Worker to assist a 22-year-old young adult with autism. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), non-verbal communication needs, and will be able to work with structured routines and care strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and housekeeping tasks
- Support the development and maintenance of a consistent routine to promote stability and comfort.
- Ensure safety and well-being at all times, particularly in high-risk environments.
- Monitor and document behavioral and health-related changes.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, ensuring the individual feels safe and valued.
- Collaborate with the family to support individual needs and goals.
Requirements:
- Previous experience is an asset but not a necessity working with individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities
- Ability to maintain patience and flexibility while fostering a positive, supportive environment.
- Strong understanding of and commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Reliable, dependable, and willing to work flexible hours (including evenings and weekends as needed).
- Ability to travel within the local area, with mileage reimbursement ($0.60)
- Criminal record background check is required.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are required.
- References from previous employers or clients (preferred).
