We are seeking a specialized and highly motivated Mechanical/Electrical Field Service Technician with expertise in ROTOLOADtm Powder Dispensing Systems and related Rotational Molding (Rotomolding) equipment.
The ideal candidate will be adept at installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electromechanical and control systems critical to the roto molding process. This role demands extensive travel and a commitment to ensuring optimal performance and accuracy of customer production lines.
Key Responsibilities
Installation and Commissioning:
- Execute the installation and startup of ROTOLOAD Powder Dispensing Systems (Integral, Central, Bucket, or Continuous Loader configurations) at customer sites.
- Perform precise calibration and testing of the system's load cells and weighing components to ensure dispensing accuracy.
- Verify proper interfacing and integration of the ROTOLOAD system with existing rotational molding machines (e.g., Turret, Shuttle, Rock & Roll).
Troubleshooting and Repair:
- Diagnose and repair complex issues within the ROTOLOAD system, focusing on:
- Pneumatic components (valves, actuators, pneumatic lid assemblies)
- Vacuum loading systems (pumps, filters, vacuum receivers)
- Electrical control systems (110V components, HMI, PLC controls, sensors, variable frequency drives (VFDs)).
- Troubleshoot issues related to powder flow, material handling, and contamination specific to polyethylene (PE) and other rotomolding resins.
- Provide secondary support for customer issues on the associated Rotomolding machines (e.g., oven controls, arm rotation, cooling chambers).
Process Optimization and Training:
- Optimize system parameters for various powders and shot weights to achieve consistent product wall thickness and material distribution.
- Conduct comprehensive on-site training for customer personnel on ROTOLOAD operation, calibration, cleaning procedures, and routine maintenance.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Accurately document all service activities, calibration records, preventative maintenance checks, and expense reports.
- Maintain a professional, clean, and organized service vehicle and toolkit, ensuring specialized calibration tools are kept in excellent condition.
Required Qualifications
- Language: Must have excellent English Language capabilities, both verbal and written, for direct intercompany, supplier, and direct customer communication. Additional language capabilities would be considered an asset.
- Education: Technical Diploma or Associate's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related Industrial Technology field.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in Field Service or Maintenance with a focus on Plastics Industry and Machinery, Rotational Molding equipment or Powder/Bulk Material Handling systems (e.g., weigh-fill, dispensing, pneumatic conveying).
Specialized Technical Skills:
- Strong PLC/Control Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose PLC (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) issues, read ladder logic, and navigate HMI systems.
- Weighing/Metering Expertise: Proven experience with load cell calibration and high-accuracy industrial weighing systems.
- Pneumatic and Vacuum Systems: Expert-level knowledge of industrial vacuum pumps, filters, conveyors, and pneumatic actuation systems.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to work on mechanical assemblies such as dispensing tubes, butterfly valves, and rotary equipment.
General Requirements:
- Must be a CANADIAN CITIZEN with un-obstructed ability and willingness to travel up to 75-90% of the time, domestically and internationally, with required multi-overnight stays.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and customer service skills.
