Daily Seafood is a growing seafood wholesaler and distributor based in Toronto serving restaurants, retailers, and home delivery customers across Ontario.
We are currently seeking a Controller / Accounting Manager to join our team in a key leadership and operational accounting role. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, operationally minded, and experienced in managing accounting processes within a fast-paced inventory and distribution environment.
We are looking for someone who not only has strong accounting experience, but can also bring structure, accountability, process improvement, and operational insight to help strengthen and improve our current systems and workflows.
Experience in food distribution, wholesale, logistics, manufacturing, inventory-based businesses, or similar operational environments is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable and vendor payment processes
- Bank reconciliations and cash flow tracking
- CRA remittances, tax payments, and government filings
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Work with external accountants and internal management
- Staff purchase tracking and reconciliation
- Inventory/accounting reconciliation support
- Maintain organized financial records and accounting controls
- Assist with financial reporting and accounting procedures
- Work closely with ownership and operations teams
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, organization, and accounting systems
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of accounting, controller, or accounting management experience preferred
- Experience in inventory-based, wholesale, food distribution, logistics, or operational accounting environments strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Self-motivated and capable of improving systems and processes independently
This role is based in-person in Toronto.
