Landscape Construction Foreman
On Point Landscaping Inc. is seeking an experienced Landscape Construction Foreman to lead commercial landscape construction projects throughout the Niagara and Hamilton areas.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating daily jobsite activities, supervising crew members, operating equipment, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day activities of commercial landscape construction jobsites
- Lead, supervise, and motivate a crew of up to five employees
- Assign daily tasks and monitor crew productivity
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, grades, and elevations
- Complete excavation, rough grading, fine grading, drainage, and site preparation work
- Operate excavators, skid steers, loaders, compactors, and other construction equipment
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, subcontractors, and site access
- Track labour, materials, equipment usage, and project progress
- Maintain clear communication with project managers, clients, inspectors, and other trades
- Ensure work is completed according to project specifications and schedules
- Enforce company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized jobsite
- Complete daily reports and identify potential delays or jobsite issues
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commercial landscape construction
- Previous experience working as a foreman, lead hand, or crew supervisor
- Ability to be diligent and thorough in record keeping and paperwork
- Extensive experience with excavation, site preparation, drainage, and grading
- Strong understanding of elevations, slopes, drainage requirements, and finished grades
- Proven experience coordinating the daily operations of an active construction site
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Experience supervising and managing crews of up to five employees
- Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, and grading plans
- Experience operating construction and landscaping equipment
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound jobsite decisions
- Valid Ontario driver’s license (Class G and Class A) with a clean driving record
- Reliable transportation to the company yard
Preferred Experience
Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:
- Commercial sodding and hydroseeding
- Tree and shrub planting
- Interlocking pavers and concrete work
- Retaining walls
- Fencing and site furnishings
- Playground construction and safety surfacing
- Stormwater ponds, swales, and drainage systems
- GPS, laser levels, or grading equipment
