We are seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team. Successful candidates should be hardworking, enthusiastic team players, reliable, and committed to maintaining a safe work environment. Extended hours of work and overtime may be required.
Heavy Equipment Operators are responsible for the safe operation of various pieces of equipment used in a variety of settings. The successful candidate will have experience operating Excavators, Dozers, Loaders, Skid Steers, and Backhoes in civil construction environments, including utility installation and earthworks projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Understanding and planning from engineered drawings.
- Performing general earthworks, site preparation, road construction, and shallow and deep underground utility installation.
- Accurately and efficiently cutting lines and grades for the installation of sewer, water, storm, and conduit mainlines and services.
- Safely excavating around existing utilities, including gas, hydro, communication, and other buried infrastructure.
- Completing trenching, ditching, backfilling, grading, stockpiling, loading, sloping, banking, demolition, and finishing work as required.
- Communicating any delays, potential hazards, accidents, equipment breakdowns and/or maintenance concerns with the Site Supervisor.
- Recording and maintaining daily records.
- Completing pre-operation inspections and daily maintenance of equipment.
- GPS knowledge.
- Working collaboratively with supervisors, labourers, and other equipment operators to meet project schedules and production targets.
Applicants must:
- Have a minimum of 5 years experience in civil construction.
- Be willing to work outside of the machine when necessary.
- Have a valid driver's license, clean drivers abstract, and reliable transportation to and from work.
- Be punctual, reliable, and hardworking.
- Have a proven safety track record.
- Be willing to work extended hours (as needed).
- Be willing to work in Princeton, BC, and surrounding areas for the duration of the project.
- Experience with GPS machine control systems is considered an asset.
