Job Summary
The Interprofessional Practice Lead provides strategic and operational leadership for the design, implementation, evaluation, and continual improvement of interprofessional health programs and clinical pathways at UBC Student Health & Wellbeing (SHW). Those programs and clinical pathways aim to develop team-based care in SHW between Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Psychiatrists, Counsellors, Psychologists, medical specialists and leadership overseeing the various disciplines. The Lead manages and fosters relationships and collaboration between these disciplines, develops project plans, designs the pathways, sets goals, milestones, and deliverables, and monitors implementation for pivots. The Lead applies expert knowledge of practice guidelines, standards, and policies to advance clinical leadership, program development, and interprofessional collaboration across SHW. Ensures alignment with SHW strategic priorities to foster an integrated, team-based care environment that enhances quality, access, and the student experience—including mental health, medical care, and health promotion.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Director, Operations SHW, and collaborates closely with SHW leadership in mental health, medical care and health promotion within an integrated, interprofessional model of care.
Functions as a core member of the interprofessional health team, contributing to high-quality, student-centred health and wellbeing services. Consults and collaborates with SHW providers within scopes of practice and external partners.
Work Performed
Leadership and Strategic Initiatives

Participates in development of integrated health programing for mental health, medical care, and health promotion, in collaboration with SHW leadership.

Leads planning, implementation, measurement, evaluation, and scaling of team-based care models across SHW programs.

Drives continuous improvement, aligning programming with SHW strategic priorities and student needs.
Program and Pathway Development

Oversees design, coordination, implementation, and quality assurance of student-centred clinical pathways and new interprofessional programs.

Integrates evidence-based standards, outcome metrics, and equity-focused frameworks into health pathways.

Develops and integrates clinical policies, procedures, manuals, and best practice guidelines for SHW professionals.

Leads multiple cross-disciplinary projects. Develops project plans, designs the pathways, sets goals, milestones, and deliverables, and monitors implementation.

Leads interprofessional working groups for various current and future SHW clinical care initiatives.
- Ensures culturally responsive, accessible care with ongoing evaluation with adjustments.
Team Engagement, Communication, and Education

Provides expert guidance and facilitates collaboration among interprofessional health and wellbeing providers to support a collaborative, high-functioning culture.

Meets regularly with SHW leadership to provide advice on clinical operations strategies.

Plans and delivers training, orientation, and education sessions to support implementation of best practices and knowledge translation.

Builds relationships across the university and with external partners.

Champions anti-racism, equity, inclusion, and Indigenous engagement in programming.

Supports onboarding, mentoring, and continuous learning opportunities for team members to strengthen clinical and collaborative practice competencies.
Operations, Quality, and Reporting

Leads the analysis of pathway utilization and outcomes data to optimize access and quality care.

Develops data infrastructure for pathway tracking, evaluation, and clinical outcomes reporting.

Uses data for evidence-based programming recommendations.

Ensures policies and procedures meet legal, ethical, and professional standards.

Supports clinical risk management in collaboration with leadership.
- Conducts environmental scans on clinical policies, standards, and best practices with recommendations.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Poor professional judgment could harm student wellbeing, damage reputation, or lead to liability.
Supervision Received
Reports to the Director, Operations SHW, and collaborates with the SHW leadership team. Exercises high autonomy within clinical and ethical guidelines.
Receives periodic review of work quality to ensure quality and adherence to SHW standards, professional guidelines, operational objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.
May receive clinical consultation and mentorship from senior clinicians and other interprofessional team members to support professional development and clinical competence.
Supervision Given
This position does not directly supervise staff. However, the clinician may provide guidance, assignments, clinical consultation, and mentorship to other staff members and may contribute to training and orientation of new team members.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of five years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Current BC registration with relevant college or association.

Master’s Degree in Nursing or allied health.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a significant asset.

5 years in leadership, administration, and program development in health-related services.

Experience in coordination of services in a clinical setting, preferably within primary care and mental health.
- Strong knowledge of BC health legislation and systems.

Ability to use a collaborative approach to problem solving supported by an evidence-based systems approach.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and capacity to document clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interprofessional team.
- Demonstrated advanced ability to plan, organize, set and accomplish objectives and goals.
