The Category Manager leads the development and execution of procurement and vendor management strategies across Corporate, IT, and Tail Spend categories for the North American portfolio. This role focuses on increasing spend under management, improving contract compliance, and reducing maverick and tail spend. Success requires strong use of industry insights, financial and market data, and category expertise to drive effective sourcing tactics, supplier relationships, and contract lifecycle management.
What you’ll do:
- Develop category strategies for IT and corporate services.
- Lead vendor consolidation and approved/preferred supplier frameworks to leverage volume.
- Partner with IT, HR, Finance, Operations and other Business team leaders.
- Collaborate with Procurement operations to implement catalogues, buy channels, and guided buying in Workday.
- Drive tail-spend rationalization and policy compliance.
- Negotiate enterprise-wide agreements and renewals.
- Support procurement efficiency enablement and reporting.
- Track and report savings, compliance, and supplier performance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring:
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field; SCMP, CSCP, CIPS, or equivalent designation preferred.
- 8-10+ years of strategic sourcing or category management experience
- Strong background in capital equipment, MRO, or industrial services
- Experience in energy, utilities, construction, or asset-intensive industries preferred
- Experience in inventory management and optimization models
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and supplier governance skills
- Experience using Workday or similar ERP systems
- Experience centralizing and managing North America wide multi location spends
- Advanced internal and external stakeholder management and executive communication skills
Salary: $97,700 - $122,100 annually (based on skills, experience, qualifications, and geography).
