ROLE SUMMARY AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Delivery Driving: The heart of the job! A lot of your day will be spent driving and representing RDB in the trade. You are expected to prioritize safe driving and be courteous on the roads.
- Route Management and Efficient Planning: You will be provided a list of accounts to deliver to in a given day, this may come with a suggested route for the most efficient delivery schedule. Prior to departure, check the route to identify any irregularities or opportunities to improve. Work with the Warehouse Manager and Sales Supervisors to optimize routes. Accounts may have designated parking instructions that should be followed whenever possible.
- Product Delivery: Follow invoices and pick sheets to deliver the correct orders (if it isn’t on the invoice, it shouldn’t be in the store). Unload product from the truck to the designated stock area in the account and work with managers to receive product/ approve the delivery prior to filling coolers and racks.
- Merchandising and Stock Management: Arrange and maintain product to maximize product visibility and sales. Monitor product inventory levels, restock shelves, and rotate products to ensure that older items are sold first (first-in, first-out method). All product is to be “worked” – i.e. rotated and filled to store requirements at each visit. If there are opportunities to improve ordering or gain space in a location, work with the Sales Representative and/or the Sales Representative to get the win!
- Vehicle Return: When the day is done fuel up for next day and park in designated spot at the RDB shop. Remove garbage from truck or place neatly on a pallet in a dock truck. Damages and returns should also be placed neatly on a pallet. Make sure shells are put in one bay or in case of dock truck put on a pallet for Warehouse staff to unload.
- Customer Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with store personnel, address any issues or concerns, and provide excellent customer service. Staying informed on products and new launches is a great to build relationships with customers and staff.
- Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and adhere to company policies and local regulations while performing duties. Check with a manager if you are not sure of the safety protocols.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Everyday prior to departure, you will be required to complete a thorough vehicle inspection a pre-trip check list will be provided. As a driver, it is your responsibility to ensure the vehicle is road worthy. If issues are identified with the large fleet, report issues to the Warehouse Manager to arrange repairs. Maintain clean truck, your responsibility is the interior, all cans and garbage to removed at end of day.
- Technology and Data Management: You will be provided with a tablet that contains all delivery information (i.e. invoices) as well as a printer. Maintaining data in our systems is critical to operations. You will be responsible for maintaining all delivery data. Damages and returns in trade are to be recorded.
- Time Keeping: Hours may vary, it is your responsibility to punch in upon arrival and punch out upon completion of your required cash out.
- Physical Requirements: Must be capable of lifting up to 75lbs in a safe manner as directed by Management and WCB requirements. This role often involves heavy lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, so physical fitness and stamina are essential.
