Recovery Alberta Mental Health and Addiction has an exciting leadership opportunity available in Grande Prairie. If you are passionate about supporting individuals experiencing addiction and advancing a recovery-oriented approach to care, we are recruiting for the Manager position responsible for bed-based addiction services delivered through the Northern Addictions Centre (NAC). This role is accountable for the administration and operation of programs, services, and staff at NAC, including the detoxification unit and bed-based addiction treatment program. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of My Recovery Plan and support the ongoing redesign of bed-based services to enhance recovery-focused care and service delivery. As Site Manager for NAC, the position is responsible for addressing building-wide operational issues and ensuring effective coordination and collaboration with other programs and services located within the facility. As a key member of the Recovery Alberta Mental Health and Addiction leadership team, you will represent regional priorities at various forums and contribute to the development and achievement of provincial strategic objectives. The position also serves as the lead for Alberta’s bed-based addiction services, working collaboratively with partners across the province to support standardized practices, continuous improvement, and high-quality care. This role offers an opportunity to influence service delivery, foster innovation, and strengthen partnerships that support recovery and wellness for Albertans. In addition to a competitive salary, Recovery Alberta provides a Remote Retention Allowance of up to $3,000 annually, payable on all basic-rate hours worked.
Reporting to the Director, the Manager is accountable for operational leadership and the delivery of high-quality, accessible, sustainable, client- and family-centred care in Grande Prairie. This role is responsible for fostering a culture of collaborative care and continuous improvement, ensuring the effective deployment of resources, and contributing to the development and implementation of operational plans and service enhancement initiatives. The incumbent will build and maintain the capacity and skills of staff to meet service delivery needs across Alberta. The Manager provides leadership to interdisciplinary teams and develops strong working relationships with internal and external partners. Responsibilities include recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and supporting the ongoing learning and professional development of staff. The incumbent promotes a culture of health, safety, and respect in the workplace and encourages employee engagement in maintaining a safe work environment. As a member of the Recovery Alberta Mental Health and Addiction leadership team, the Manager will work collaboratively with leaders across the province to advance an integrated and seamless system of mental health and addiction services that supports clients and families. The role also involves building and maintaining partnerships with community organizations and service providers to strengthen care pathways and ensure clients have access to the supports and resources they need. The incumbent is responsible for managing an allocated budget, approving expenditures, and maintaining effective communication and collaboration with financial and human resources partners to support operational excellence and organizational objectives in this field.

Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant regulated health profession and hold current registration with the applicable professional regulatory college. A minimum of five years of recent and relevant clinical, supervisory, and/or leadership experience within Mental Health and Addiction is required. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of recovery-oriented care and a proven ability to lead complex stakeholder and community engagement initiatives. The successful candidate will have experience in a management and/or supervisory role, with demonstrated leadership capabilities in guiding interdisciplinary teams, managing change, and supporting staff development. Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to foster collaboration, drive operational excellence, and support the delivery of high-quality, client- and family-centred services.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality, client- and family-centred care and services, including experience supporting individuals with complex needs in community, rural, and remote settings. Proven experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation, with a commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence. Strong ability to collaborate with a broad range of internal and external partners to support integrated and coordinated care. Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding frontline staff through complex client care issues, supporting clinical decision-making, and fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth. Experience addressing staffing and performance concerns while promoting employee development and clinical excellence is essential. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills are required, including the ability to effectively engage stakeholders and resolve conflict. Demonstrated knowledge of change management principles and experience leading and sustaining organizational change initiatives. Proven financial and operational management skills, including budget planning, forecasting, financial reporting, and responsible resource allocation to support program and organizational objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience bed-based addiction treatment services in a clinical or leadership role. Change management and project management training are an asset. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience leading teams in dynamic healthcare environments and working effectively with diverse partners and stakeholders is considered an asset.
