What you will do:
- Assist site management to ensure company systems, policies and procedures are met in order to provide a safe working environment for employees, subcontractors and clients
- Reports to the Project Manager on an as-needed basis to discuss the overall safety and work habits on site
- Responsible for effective implementation of OH&S policies and procedures, monitoring OH&S compliance
- Ensure client safety requirements are met and adhered to
- Assist in employee briefing and training
- Drive safety awareness campaigns and promote positive safety behaviour/culture on projects
- Conduct walk-arounds to visibly check for irregularities and violations of safety procedures
- Conduct on-the-spot assessments to ascertain irregularities and violations
- Learn and promote Phoenix’s safety culture and values
- Effective implementation of Permit to Work system on project
- Instruct and mentor personnel on Phoenix’s safety work programs
- Evaluate safety performance through inspections and field audits
- Reinforce minor violations by making notes for further training and ensuring reinforcement training has taken place
- Participate in accident investigation, root cause analysis and provide assistance in preparing reports
- Provide assistance to Emergency response if required
- Attend project meetings and prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports
- Liaise with Project Managers, Client and subcontractors s deemed necessary for discussion on project safety matters and to resolve issues
- Organize topics for daily toolbox meetings
- Issue stop-work orders for serious violations of safety procedures
- Conduct training and reinforcement of safety procedures regularly
- Perform other duties as required
- Lead by example by demonstrating the importance of fostering a safety culture
What you Bring:
- Minimum of 2-5 years of related safety inspection experience in oil and gas sector, prior Safety Inspector experience preferred
- A safe work environment for all employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders
- Effective implementation of OH&S policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
- Continual monitoring, coaching and guidance towards safety compliance
- Drive safety campaigns and provide employee training
- Evaluate safety performance through inspections and audits
- Participate in accident investigations and root cause analysis
- Prepare accident reports
- Organize and deliver toolbox talks
- Ability to multi-task, and prioritize
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access) with the ability to work with multiple programs
- Adheres to site specific safety requirements
- Ability to build and sustain relationships with team members and coworkers
- Invested in a safety-oriented work environment
- Relevant Terms: Health and Safety Inspector; Safety Specialist; HSE Inspector; Safety Officer
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2-5 years of related experience in safety implementation and protocols.
- Successfully complete a pre-access drug and alcohol testing
- OHS / CRSP or NCSO certification
- Flexibility in working periods of overtime with travel to site locations
- Standard First Aid Level C, with CPR/AED
- Valid Drivers’ License
- Valid Drivers’ Abstract
- H2S Alive Certification (Energy Safety Certification preferred)
