Job Overview:
MacDougall Steel Erectors Inc. is seeking experienced Structural Steel Welder/Fitters to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fabricating, assembling, and welding structural steel components while ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings.
- Fabricate and assemble structural steel components according to specifications.
- Perform various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
- Utilize cutting tools such as torches, plasma cutters, and grinders.
- Operate hoists, cranes, and other material-handling equipment.
- Inspect welds to ensure structural soundness and compliance with industry standards.
- Maintain tools and equipment in proper working order.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe work environment.
- Work independently or as part of a team to meet production deadlines.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in structural steel welding and fitting.
- CWB certification (FCAW/MCAW, SMAW) would be an asset.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and shop drawings.
- Experience with layout, fitting, and fabrication of steel structures.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and best practices.
- Ability to operate fabrication machinery, power tools, and welding equipment.
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy materials.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
