Job description
LORICA Equipment is searching for skilled sewing operators to join our production team full-time in our facility in Chilliwack. Reporting to the Manager of Production, the Sewing Machine Operator is responsible for the material preparation and construction of highly technical products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for producing high quality products such as vests, pouches, garments, and apparel from a variety of fabrics and materials such as nylon, zippers, Velcro, elastics, and sub-components
- Complete repairs and custom alterations
- Install hardware such as grommets, snaps and twist locks
- Perform routine machine maintenance
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Work closely with manager to collaborate on best practices and find efficiencies in the production process
- Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree required
- Sewing machine experience, preferably with industrial-level machines
- You will have access to operate different types of industrial sewing machines including single needle lock stitch, Sergers (overlock), Walking foot and Bar-tack machines
- Experience working with a variety of materials preferred. Ability to meet quality standards and deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines and goals
- Team player able to interact in a positive, constructive manner with staff members on all levels within the company
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use both hands to finger, feel or handle objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands or arms
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception
