Athletic Therapist / Equipment Manager

Position Overview
The Athletic Therapist / Equipment Manager plays a key role within the Hockey Operations department, overseeing player health and wellness while managing all aspects of team equipment operations. This individual will be responsible for injury prevention and treatment, equipment maintenance, dressing room operations, travel preparation, and supporting players and staff throughout the season.
Key ResponsibilitiesAthletic Therapy & Player Care
- Provide immediate assessment and treatment of player injuries during practices and games.
- Coordinate injury rehabilitation and return-to-play programs.
- Maintain accurate medical records and injury reports.
- Communicate player status updates with coaching staff and management.
- Work collaboratively with team physicians, therapists, and other medical professionals.
- Assist with concussion protocols and player health monitoring.
Equipment Operations
- Manage all team equipment, including maintenance, repairs, and inventory control.
- Perform skate sharpening and equipment adjustments as required.
- Organize and maintain a clean, professional dressing room environment.
- Set up dressing rooms and benches for practices and games.
- Handle daily laundry and equipment care.
- Coordinate packing, transportation, and organization of equipment for road trips.
- Assist with stick and equipment ordering and inventory tracking.
- Prepare for visiting teams and support visiting athletic therapists when required.
- Ensure compliance with BCHL equipment and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Athletic Therapist, Registered Nurse, Occupational First Aid Level 2 or 3, or Licensed First Responder Level 3 (including AED, spinal management, and airway management endorsements).
- Experience in injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation.
- Proficiency in skate sharpening and equipment maintenance.
- Previous experience working in junior, collegiate, or professional hockey is considered an asset.
- Concussion management and taping/strapping certifications are preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Preference will be given to candidates with Athletic Therapy certification and hockey-specific experience.
Schedule
- Term: August 1, 2026 – May 31, 2027
- Availability required for all team practices, home games, away games, training camp, and team events.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday work is required throughout the hockey season.
