The Milling Foreman/woman directs and manages all on-site construction workers, subcontractors and equipment, enforcing the company’s direction, policies, procedures and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines. The construction work is varied including all facets of small civil jobs to large municipal and highway projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, and equipment.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and serviced on daily basis e.g. (greasing) report all other issues for repair.
- Order trucking and material on daily bases (trucking, sweeper, flagger, etc.)
- Verify location of dump site(s)
- Maximise production while maintaining HIGHEST Quality and safety.
- Represent the company professionally in the community and maintain ongoing good business relationship with customer base and suppliers.
- Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
- Verify job specifications (depth, quantity, limits) prior to commencement of work.
- Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met.
- Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture, and an integral component of regular duties.
- Administer and submit daily reporting, and time keeping with daily notes in SAGE.
- Train and promote the development of crew members.
- Work with the Human Resources/ Management Department on matters of employee performance and discipline, when required.
- Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
- Maintain positive company image.

- Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years related Milling experience.

Working Conditions
- Overtime as required.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
- Required to perform tasks that involve standing, heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling for an extended period of time.
- Use of personal protection equipment is required.
- Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear required when working outdoors.
- Must be able to work outdoors in areas that are dusty and/or dirty.
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
- Must comply with all company policies.
