The Niagara Community Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in establishing and strengthening Mishka Social Services’ presence in the Niagara Region. This role focuses on supporting newcomers and equity-seeking communities through culturally responsive programming, community partnerships, and system navigation support.
The Coordinator will lead local program coordination, volunteer and student engagement, and the implementation of an integrated intake and referral system. This position requires a strong understanding of newcomer experiences, equity-informed approaches, and community-based service delivery. The Coordinator will also work closely with leadership to build sustainable systems, strengthen partnerships, and ensure programs are responsive to community needs.
· Coordinate and support delivery of newcomer programs including food security, digital literacy, and social support services
· Provide culturally responsive support to newcomers, assisting with system navigation, referrals, and access to services
· Implement and maintain an integrated intake and triage system across Niagara programs
· Track service data, referrals, and community engagement to support reporting and continuous improvement
· Recruit, onboard, and supervise volunteers and placement students
· Deliver or support training on trauma-informed practice, anti-racism, and inclusion
· Establish and support a Niagara Newcomer Advisory Circle to inform program design
· Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations and service providers
· Coordinate outreach activities, workshops, and community events
· Support development of internal systems, tools, and processes to strengthen program delivery
· Ensure confidentiality, ethical practice, and adherence to organizational policies
· Preferred: Education in Social Work, Social Service Work, Community Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
· Experience working with newcomers, refugees, or equity-seeking communities
· Strong understanding of anti-racism, trauma-informed practice, and culturally responsive care
· Experience in program coordination, community outreach, or case support
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively
· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
· Commitment to supporting diverse communities
· Experience with data tracking, reporting, or intake systems is an asset
· Multilingual skills are strongly preferred
· 30 hours per week (part-time contract)
· $28/hour
· Primarily weekdays during business hours (e.g., approximately 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
· Occasional evenings and weekends may be required to support community programming and events, with flexibility in scheduling
The Niagara Capacity Coordinator will work in a hybrid environment, including community-based work across the Niagara Region and some remote responsibilities. This role may require travel within the region and participation in community events and outreach activities.
