About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Construction Surveyor to support a large-scale transit and infrastructure project in the Greater Toronto Area. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of construction activities through surveying, layout, data collection, and quality control.
The successful candidate will work closely with project teams to support field operations across a variety of construction environments, including stations, tunnels, civil works, and public areas. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to one of the region's most significant infrastructure developments.
Surveying and Layout
- Perform construction layout, stakeout, and survey data collection activities.
- Complete survey requests in stations, tunnels, civil works, and other project areas.
- Establish, maintain, and verify survey control networks.
- Conduct field measurements and ensure all survey work meets project requirements.
- Assist with project surveying needs during peak construction activities.
Data Collection and Reporting
- Collect, process, and analyze survey data.
- Verify accuracy through regular quality control checks.
- Support the preparation of as-built records and survey documentation.
- Maintain accurate field notes, reports, and survey records.
Equipment Operation
- Operate and maintain survey equipment, including:
- Total Stations
- GNSS Receivers
- Laser Scanners
- Digital Levels
- Ensure equipment is properly calibrated and functioning effectively.
- Support advanced surveying and monitoring activities as required.
Collaboration
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, field supervisors, and construction crews.
- Coordinate with internal teams to support project deliverables and timelines.
- Communicate survey findings and technical information clearly and professionally.
Safety
- Adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, and site requirements.
- Participate in mandatory safety training and site orientations.
- Promote a strong safety culture on all project sites.
Qualifications Required
- 10-15 years of construction surveying experience.
- Experience working on large-scale civil, infrastructure, transportation, or transit projects.
- Proficiency with Total Stations, GNSS receivers, Laser Scanners, and Digital Levels.
- Strong understanding of construction layout, control networks, and survey best practices.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Preferred
- Degree or diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Geodetic Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with Civil 3D, point cloud software, and related survey technologies.
- Previous experience working in tunnel, station, rail, or transit construction environments.
