CO2 Laser Machine Operator
A&R Metal Industries Ltd. | [Richmond, BC] | Full-Time | Afternoon Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
A&R Metal Industries is looking for an experienced CO2 Laser machine Operator to anchor our afternoon production shift. Precision cutting is the first step in everything we build — we need someone who can run the laser with confidence and keep quality and throughput steady, shift after shift.
About A&R Metal Industries
A&R Metal Industries is a sheet metal fabrication shop supplying precision-cut and formed metal components to industrial and commercial clients. Our production floor depends on accurate, efficient laser cutting to keep every downstream process — forming, punching, and assembly — on schedule.
About the Role
As our CO2 Laser Machine Operator, you'll set up and run our CO2 laser cutting machine to produce sheet metal parts to spec on the 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM shift. Within your first few months, you'll be operating independently, reading part drawings and job specs with confidence, and helping keep quality and output steady across the shift. Experience with other sheet metal equipment is a strong asset — depending on production needs, this role may cross-train into related processes over time.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate the CO2 laser cutting machine to produce sheet metal parts according to part drawings, work orders, and quality specifications
- Load, position, and unload sheet metal stock safely and efficiently
- Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy and surface quality, adjusting machine settings as needed
- Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime
- Maintain accurate production records and report material or quality issues promptly
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures on the shop floor
- Support press brake, forming, punch press, or CNC punching operations as cross-training opportunities arise
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience operating a CO2 laser cutting machine in a production or manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret part drawings, work orders, and technical drawings
- Comfortable working independently on the 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM shift
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety standards
- Ability to lift and maneuver sheet metal stock as required
Preferred (nice to have):
- Experience with sheet metal press brake operation
