Overview
We are seeking a Junior CAD Designer to support the design, documentation, and production of industrial dock equipment including dock levelers, vehicle restraints, seals, and shelters. This role requires experience with both SolidWorks and AutoCAD and focuses on producing accurate, manufacturing-ready drawings and models.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and modify 2D drawings in AutoCAD and 3D models in SolidWorks
- Develop manufacturing and assembly drawings for production use
- Update CAD files based on engineering changes and revision requests
- Produce and maintain BOMs and revision-controlled documentation
- Interpret mechanical drawings and integrate cross-functional inputs (mechanical/electrical)
- Support engineering and production teams with design clarification and issue resolution
- Ensure all drawings meet internal drafting and manufacturing standards
Required Skills (Must-Have)
- Proficiency in both SolidWorks and AutoCAD (required)
- Ability to produce manufacturing-ready drawings and models
- Strong understanding of mechanical components and assemblies
- Ability to independently interpret technical drawings
- Experience working with revisions and controlled documentation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines
Education & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or related field
- 0–3 years of CAD experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Co-op or internship experience accepted if CAD-intensive
Nice to Have
- Manufacturing or fabrication environment experience
- Exposure to tolerances, fits, and mechanical design principles
- Experience with BOM systems or ERP software
- Bluebeam or similar PDF markup tools
