ONE CARE Home & Community Support Services is a respected non profit community agency, providing in-home and community services.
SUMMARY:
As a front-line staff position the Mobility Vehicle Driver is responsible for meeting, boarding and assisting clients in and out of agency vehicles at their pick-up location and safely, comfortably and reliably transporting them as directed by EasyRide to their destination at medical appointments, adult day programs, for shopping, errands and social purposes. Responsibilities also include ensuring the safety of the vehicle, equipment and client while boarding, transporting and unloading clients. We are looking to increase services by providing weekend and social rides to our clients. This Role works varying hours including days, evenings, and every other weekend.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 -2 years’ experience driving vehicles where an F license is required. (Premium for Driving the bus, F License Required)
- Provide a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Provide a clean and current Driver’s Abstract.
- Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Driver’s License – F class.
- Knowledge of safe and defensive driving techniques in various weather conditions.
- Possess sound judgement and in-depth knowledge of driving conditions in both rural and urban areas across Perth and Huron County.
- Current certification in CPR Level C and Emergency First Aid.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and outside regular hours of operation.
- Must be able to read and communicate in English effectively and possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle the physical demands required as outlined in the Physical Demands Description for Van Drivers. Including but not limited to, bending and kneeling. Pushing a wheel chair, fastening Q-Straints, ability to support a door to door program.
- Must provide own transportation to job site.
- Experience working with Seniors would be considered an asset.
