Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Local & Shunt Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely maneuvering freight and equipment within our facility and to designated locations. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, and safety protocols to ensure efficient transportation and logistics support. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting the movement of freight with precision and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and other heavy equipment to load, unload, and transport freight within the facility
- Safely maneuver trucks for local deliveries and shunting operations between different parts of the site or to external locations
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and operational readiness
- Assist with automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to maintain vehicle functionality
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, traffic laws, and company policies during operations
- Maintain accurate records of freight movement, vehicle logs, and inspection reports
- Collaborate with warehouse staff and logistics teams to coordinate timely deliveries and pickups
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for freight hauling and shunting operations
- Experience operating forklifts, heavy machinery, or similar equipment is highly desirable
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety standards in industrial or warehouse settings
- Basic automotive repair skills are a plus for troubleshooting vehicle issues
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to safety protocols
- Prior experience in commercial driving or logistics is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided as needed
Pay: $17.20-$27.00 per hour
