Destination Steward (Outdoor Awareness & Community Engagement)
We are seeking a team of enthusiastic and dedicated Stewards to join our outdoor engagement team. In this role, you will play an important part in promoting responsible recreation through public outreach and education in the Squamish area.
The ideal candidate communicates respectfully with diverse groups, has knowledge of the local area, and is passionate about fostering positive outdoor experiences. You will help create a welcoming environment for both visitors and locals by sharing information about conservation efforts, recreational guidelines, and community initiatives.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic outdoor setting, engaging directly with the public and supporting the overall recreation and tourism experience. Experience working with children, public speaking, or customer service is an asset, but we welcome motivated individuals who are eager to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and take down pop-up tents and informational displays
- Actively engage with recreation users and the community
- Provide accurate information about Squamish trails, local areas, and responsible recreation practices
- Greet guests warmly and assist with questions to ensure a positive experience
- Support event setup and breakdown, maintaining clean and organized spaces
- Interact with children and families through friendly and appropriate activities
- Help maintain cleanliness at recreation sites, including garbage collection and trail maintenance
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for outdoor work
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to take on a variety of tasks and learn new skills
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong commitment to guest service
- Customer service experience is an asset but not required
Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
