Position SummaryThe Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining fabrication equipment used in the production of structural steel components. The successful candidate will produce quality parts according to drawings and production schedules while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate structural steel fabrication equipment, including CNC beam lines, drill lines, saws, plasma or oxy-fuel cutting machines, and other production machinery.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, work orders, and production schedules.
- Measure, mark, and verify material dimensions to ensure accuracy.
- Set up machines, select tooling, and adjust machine settings for various production runs.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues promptly.
- Safely move material using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material handling equipment (training or certification may be required).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Work collaboratively with welders, fitters, quality control personnel, and supervisors to meet production goals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating machinery in a structural steel, metal fabrication, or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments such as tape measures, squares, and calipers.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts is an asset.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CNC-controlled fabrication equipment.
- Knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes and materials.
- Understanding of quality control procedures and production documentation.
- Familiarity with workplace safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.

- Day shift and Afternoons (with occasional overtime as required)
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
