Overview
A large local agricultural group is looking for a Farm Operator, where you will play a vital role in maintaining and managing farm operations to ensure optimal productivity and sustainability. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work outdoors, operate various farm machinery, and contribute directly to the growth of healthy crops and expansion of our farm. We are seeking motivated individuals who thrive in a hands-on environment and are eager to develop their skills in agriculture.
Duties
- Operate and maintain farm machinery such as tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems to support daily farming activities
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment, including power tools and heavy machinery, ensuring safety and proper functioning
- Assist with irrigation setup, adjustments, and troubleshooting to optimize water distribution across fields
- Perform general maintenance and repairs using hand tools and power tools to keep equipment in top condition
- Support crop cultivation activities by planting, fertilizing, watering, and harvesting crops with attention to detail
- Handle heavy lifting tasks involved in moving supplies, materials, or harvested produce safely and efficiently
- Maintain accurate records of daily operations, equipment maintenance, and crop progress for reporting purposes
Experience
- Prior experience working on a farm or in an agricultural setting is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is highly valued
- Basic knowledge of horticulture principles and crop management practices is advantageous
- Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery operation and troubleshooting is beneficial
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently is a plus
- Familiarity with irrigation systems, hand tools, power tools, and maintenance procedures enhances your suitability for this role
- Strong physical stamina with the ability to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Basic math skills for measuring inputs, calculating areas, or managing inventory are helpful
- DZ license would be an asset
- Grower Pesticide Safety Certificate would be an asset
- Must have valid Drivers License
This is NOT a greenhouse position
Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour
