Job Summary
We are looking for a proactive and skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our industrial maintenance team. The Maintenance Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of plant operations. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment to minimize downtime and optimize production performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Troubleshoot, repair, and efficiently set up equipment to ensure optimal performance.
· Conduct both major and minor equipment adjustments within a reasonable timeframe.
· Perform safe and effective maintenance of plant equipment.
· Ensure all equipment and machinery remain clean and fully operational, adhering to GMP guidelines and regulatory standards.
· Accurately complete and submit maintenance reports and records through MaintainX for seamless tracking and follow-up.
· Maintain mechanical equipment through both corrective and preventive measures.
· Research, test, and implement improvements to equipment and systems.
· Act as a first responder and verifier in emergency situations.
· Engage in performance management processes to align work activities with company strategic objectives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Valid Skilled Trades License (Millwright) from Ontario or another Canadian province.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance, including equipment setup, adjustment, and troubleshooting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Technical education in mechanics or engineering
· Multi-Craft Maintenance Skills – Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
· Predictive & Preventative Maintenance Expertise – Familiarity with CMMS systems like MaintainX, vibration analysis, and thermography.
· Additional Certifications – Such as Millwright Red Seal Certification, Welding certifications
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical components used in bakeshop and packaging departments, including flow wrappers and metal detectors.
· Equipment Proficiency: Skilled in operating and maintaining shop tools such as milling machines, lathes, grinders, drilling machines, and welding equipment.
· Attention to Detail: Ability to inspect, maintain, and ensure the efficient operation of equipment while complying with food safety standards.
· Problem-Solving Ability: Adept at diagnosing and resolving mechanical and operational issues quickly and effectively.
· Organizational Skills: Maintain inventory control and ensure workspace remains clean, orderly, and well-managed.
· Effective Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to accurately document processes and report issues.
· Collaboration & Independence: Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while also thriving in a team-oriented environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
· Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders or stairs.
· Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling tools and equipment.
· Working at Heights: May need to work on elevated platforms or scaffolding to access high-level machinery or building structures.
· Exposure to Extreme Temperatures: Work in varying conditions, including hot ovens, refrigerated areas, humid environments, and external building maintenance tasks.
Pay: $41.15 per hour
