The OpportunitySOAR Community Services is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our Withdrawal Management & Treatment Services (WMTS) team. In this bed-based setting, you will provide direct nursing care to clients accessing withdrawal management and treatment services, working to your full scope of practice.
This role offers meaningful, relationship-based care with a smaller caseload, greater professional autonomy, and the opportunity to make a real impact in an underserved area of healthcare. You will work within a collaborative interdisciplinary team focused on safe, compassionate, and evidence-informed care throughout the client’s treatment journey.
What You’ll Do
- Provide direct nursing care in a bed-based withdrawal management and treatment setting
- Conduct in-person and telephone screening prior to admission
- Complete comprehensive client intake assessments
- Monitor withdrawal symptoms using evidence-based protocols
- Administer oral and injectable medications and document care accurately
- Identify clients requiring a higher level of care and coordinate hospital transfers when necessary
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including Nurse Practitioners and Withdrawal Management Workers
- Liaise with external partners such as pharmacies, hospitals, and RAAM medical teams to support continuity of care
- Collect specimens including blood, urine, and blood glucose
- Support medication reconciliation and maintain EMR records
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment
- Participate in the development of collaborative discharge planning
What You’ll Bring
- Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from a CNO-recognized program
- Clinical experience in addictions or mental health preferred (withdrawal management experience an asset)
- Strong knowledge of CNO Standards of Practice and commitment to reflective practice
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with electronic medical records
- Access to reliable transportation
- Capacity to manage exposure to direct and vicarious trauma
