The Breakfast/Lunch Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking fresh breakfast meals for our guests and camp clients. At 11 am, our lunch menu begins, and this role creates delicious lunch meals for eat in and take out guests.
This role follows recipes and a prep list or assigned by the General Manager, and requires a high level of independence, cleanliness, consistency, and a commitment to producing delicious food that upholds our company’s high standards.
All main and recurring tasks must be completed in accordance with daily checklists and food safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryer, flat top, and mixer safely and effectively
- Use provided recipe cards and adhere to portion control guidelines
- Greet all coworkers and guests in a friendly and courteous manner
- Understand and comply consistently with our standard portion system, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
- Keep the food prep, cooler and baking stations well stocked, containers labelled, dated, filled, clean and sanitized
- Monitor dry and perishable goods. Communicate with the General Manager or supervisor regarding items needing to be used up or items needing to be reordered.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and organization in the kitchen at all times
- Prepare and cook breakfasts and lunches for guests and staff according to training and menu standards
- Use the Square terminal to process breakfast payments for public guests when required
- Follow daily opening and closing checklists, and create a personal prep list to stay organized throughout your rotation and prepare your cross-shift for success
- Assist kitchen staff with creating catering orders as required
- When directed, bake a variety of products including breads, muffins, cookies, tarts, cakes, and other desserts using commercial kitchen equipment.
- Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for improvement
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall kitchen operations
Qualifications
- Previous experience in professional cooking in a camp, restaurant, commercial kitchen is required.
- Solid understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and prepping/grilling/baking fundamentals.
- Ability to multitask and stay focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Customer service experience
- Physically capable of lifting up to 30 lbs and working on your feet for extended periods
- Valid Canadian driver’s license and current Food Safe certification required
- Must be fluent in English and comfortable using checklists and written procedures
Compensation & Benefits
- $240 - $280 per day (10-11.5 hour shift)
