We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Control Specialist to support quality assurance and quality control activities for major, long-term projects in Ontario.
Position Overview
The Quality Control Specialist will be responsible for supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of project quality control processes. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, construction, procurement, project management, contractors, and suppliers to ensure that project activities and deliverables meet applicable quality requirements, specifications, codes, standards, and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain project-specific quality control processes, procedures, and requirements.
- Review project documentation, drawings, specifications, procedures, inspection plans, and quality requirements.
- Monitor project activities to ensure compliance with approved engineering, construction, and quality requirements.
- Conduct and coordinate inspections, quality surveillance, audits, and field verification activities.
- Develop, review, and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, inspection records, and quality documentation.
- Review inspection and testing results and verify that work meets specified acceptance criteria.
- Identify quality issues, deficiencies, non-conformances, and potential risks.
- Initiate, track, and support resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Support corrective and preventive action processes and verify effective implementation.
- Review contractor and supplier quality documentation and performance.
- Monitor contractor compliance with project quality requirements.
- Participate in quality meetings, design reviews, construction meetings, inspections, and project coordination meetings.
- Review material certificates, inspection reports, test reports, certificates of compliance, and other quality records.
- Support the development and implementation of quality surveillance plans.
- Maintain accurate and traceable quality records and documentation.
- Assist with internal and external quality audits.
- Monitor the status of outstanding quality issues and ensure timely closeout.
- Support root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide quality-related guidance to project team members, contractors, and suppliers.
- Identify trends and recurring quality issues and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
- Prepare quality reports, metrics, dashboards, and status updates for project management.
- Ensure quality documentation is maintained in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Support project turnover and closeout activities, including compilation and review of final quality documentation.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in quality control, quality assurance, inspection, or project quality management.
- Experience working on large-scale engineering, construction, infrastructure, energy, industrial, utilities, or power projects.
- Strong understanding of quality management principles and quality control processes.
- Experience reviewing engineering and construction documentation.
- Experience with inspections, testing, NCR management, corrective actions, and quality records.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Quality & Technical Knowledge
Experience with the following is considered an asset:
- Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)

- Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)

Codes, Standards & Systems
Knowledge or experience with applicable industry codes, standards, and quality management systems is considered an asset, including:
- ISO 9001
- CSA standards
- ASME standards
- Applicable Canadian engineering and construction standards
- Project-specific quality management systems
- Regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to major infrastructure projects
Preferred Industry Experience
Experience in one or more of the following environments is considered an asset:
