Senior Accountant | Edmonton, AB
Robert Half is partnering with a well-established and respected manufacturing organization in the Edmonton area to identify a talented Senior Accountant . This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working closely with operations, providing financial insight, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and intercompany transactions while supporting a timely and accurate month-end close process.
Produce monthly financial statements and provide detailed analysis of variances compared to budget, forecast, and prior-period results.
Develop and deliver monthly and quarterly management reporting packages that support strategic and operational decision-making.
Coordinate audit requirements, prepare supporting schedules, and act as a key liaison with external auditors during interim and year-end engagements.
Assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting process, partnering with operational leaders to provide meaningful financial analysis and recommendations.
Collaborate with plant and operational teams to understand business performance, resolve accounting issues, and provide ongoing financial guidance.
Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and capital project reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Conduct financial and cost analysis to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for improved profitability.
Support manufacturing cost accounting activities, including variance analysis, standard costing reviews, and production performance reporting.
- CPA designation is required.
- MUST HAVE SAP Experience
- At least 2 years of accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing, assembly, or a related industrial environment.
- Strong background in financial reporting, operational analysis, and cost accounting.
- Hands-on experience with account reconciliations, general ledger activity, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
- Ability to interpret financial results, identify unusual trends, and connect findings to operational performance.
- Experience supporting audits, preparing financial statements, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Familiarity with SAP and experience working with intercompany transactions and multi-currency environments would be considered an asset.
- Strong communication and time-management skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders and manage competing priorities independently.
