About the Position
Red Seal Contracting is seeking a dependable and motivated Commercial Construction Labourer to join our growing team. We are looking for an individual with commercial construction experience who takes pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and productive job site. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, physically fit, punctual, and capable of working independently while supporting carpenters, foremen, and subcontractors.
This position offers an opportunity to work on a variety of commercial projects, including office renovations, tenant improvements, institutional buildings, and other commercial construction sites.
Primary ResponsibilitiesSite Setup & Daily Preparation
- Open and prepare the job site each morning.
- Set up tools, equipment, and work areas for daily operations.
- Ensure safe access routes and maintain organized work zones.
- Perform daily inspections of tools and equipment.
- Assist with temporary protection of finished areas.
Material Management
- Receive, unload, inspect, and organize deliveries.
- Stage materials in designated work areas for efficient workflow.
- Maintain accurate inventory of materials and consumables.
- Safely transport materials throughout the site using appropriate equipment.
- Minimize material waste and report shortages or damaged products.
Site Organization & Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free job site throughout the day.
- Remove construction debris and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Sweep, vacuum, and clean work areas as required.
- Organize tools, extension cords, ladders, and equipment.
- Prepare the site for inspections and client walkthroughs.
Labour Support
- Assist carpenters with layout, framing, drywall, insulation, demolition, and finishing work.
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials.
- Operate hand and power tools safely.
- Assist with lifting, carrying, and positioning heavy materials.
- Support concrete, framing, drywall, flooring, and general construction activities as required.
Equipment Operation
Experience operating or willingness to become certified on:
- Skid steer
- Telehandler
- Scissor lifts
- Boom lifts
- Material lifts
- Other site equipment as required
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety policies and site-specific safety procedures.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward clients, subcontractors, and fellow workers.
Qualifications
- Commercial construction experience preferred.
- Valid driver's licence with reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs (23 kg) or more regularly.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
