The role is primarily office-based, with opportunities to engage in field work and support a variety of projects across Canada’s forest sector.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and maintain timber supply and forest estate models to support strategic and tactical planning
- Analyze forest inventory and spatial datasets to evaluate harvest scenarios and management strategies
- Support the development of forest management plans and regulatory submissions through technical analysis and documentation
- Apply modeling tools to assess wildlife habitat, wildfire risk, and other landscape-level considerations
- Contribute to projects related to biomass, carbon, and emerging forest-based opportunities
- Prepare clear, well-structured outputs that communicate key assumptions, risks, and trade-offs
- Work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure analysis aligns with project objectives and operational realities
- Support continuous improvement of modeling approaches, workflows, and documentation standards
What You Bring:
- Strong analytical capability with a focus on accuracy, transparency, and defensibility of results
- Practical understanding of forest management planning and timber supply concepts
- Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into clear, usable insights
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines across multiple projects
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical audiences
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
Technical Skills & Experience:
- Experience with forest estate modeling tools such as Remsoft Woodstock or Patchworks
- Proficiency in GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data analysis
- Experience with statistical or analytical tools (e.g., Python, R, or similar) is an asset
- Familiarity with forest inventory data structures and planning frameworks in one or more Canadian jurisdictions
- Exposure to project planning or coordination is considered an asset
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Planning, Agriculture, or a related field
- Graduate degree is an asset, but not required
- Registered or eligible for registration as an RPF or RPFT in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, or Ontario
Why Work at Silvacom:

- Be part of a team that values practical solutions, technical quality, and collaboration
- Contribute to meaningful work across the forest sector, government, and environmental initiatives
- Access opportunities for professional growth in forest modeling, planning, and applied analytics
- Join a company with a long-standing reputation in forestry, GIS, and land management
Compensation:
We offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), and a company-sponsored RRSP plan.
