Perri’s Corporation is a premium manufacturer and licensor of branded accessories and leather goods, supplying major retailers and global brand partners. The business operates across manufacturing, wholesale, licensing, and distribution channels, with an increasing focus on scalable systems, disciplined working capital management, and operational excellence.
We are seeking a hands-on, commercially minded Controller or CFO-level professional to own the day-to-day finance function and act as the operational backbone of accounting, reporting, and controls.
Role Overview
The Controller will be responsible for all core accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance functions. This role requires a strong understanding of inventory-driven businesses and ERP environments. The successful candidate will partner closely with operations, sales, and senior leadership to ensure financial accuracy, insight, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Prepare accurate financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Deliver variance analysis, margin reporting, and management commentary
- Ensure timely and accurate reconciliations (bank, AR, AP, inventory, accruals)
Inventory, Costing & Operations Finance
- Manage inventory accounting, standard costing, and landed cost allocations
- Oversee WIP, purchase commitments, and inventory reserve policies
- Partner with operations on production runs and SKU profitability
- Monitor inventory turns, excess/obsolete stock, and gross margin drivers
ERP & Systems
- Act as finance lead for ERP integrity (Epicor experience a strong asset)
- Maintain chart of accounts, GL structure, and costing logic
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting, automation, and controls
Compliance & Tax
- Oversee HST filings, remittances, and ITC integrity
- Coordinate year-end audit/review and external advisors
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and best practices
Cash Flow & Working Capital
- Monitor AR, AP, and cash flow forecasts
- Support credit management, customer terms, and collections discipline
- Assist with financing reporting and lender requirements, as applicable
Leadership & Collaboration
- Manage and mentor accounting staff and external bookkeepers
- Partner cross-functionally with sales, operations, and senior management
- Support strategic initiatives, pricing analysis, and growth projects
Qualifications & Experience
- 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong experience in manufacturing, consumer goods, or inventory-driven businesses
- ERP experience required (Epicor or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills; comfort with detailed financial models
- Understanding of Canadian tax and HST
