Shipping and Receiving Lead
Job Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Lead at Colourific oversees and coordinates the movement, storage, and distribution of materials and finished goods to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations. This role is responsible for leading logistics personnel, optimizing warehouse and transportation processes, and ensuring the accurate and timely flow of materials to support production and customer requirements. The Shipping & Receiving Lead plays a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, improving operational efficiency, and supporting company objectives while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
You will be reporting to the Director of Operations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the logistics team, including warehouse staff, forklift operators, and shipping/receiving personnel.
- Oversee the receipt, storage, movement, and distribution of materials and finished goods, ensuring timely delivery to production line and customers.
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and support operational excellence.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and timely reconciliation of discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Production, Scheduling, and Sales teams to align logistics activities with business requirements.
- Actively participate in Daily Management Meetings (DMMs).
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements related to material handling, warehousing, and transportation.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, inventory turnover, and shipping costs.
- Identify and resolve logistics-related issues, including shipment delays, inventory shortages, transportation challenges, and material flow disruptions.
- Coordinate driver and forklift operator training, reinforce best practices, and ensure the safe and proper operation of material handling equipment.
- Manage relationships with carriers, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure service, quality, and expectations are met.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities as required.
Other Qualifications and Experiences
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in logistics, warehousing, shipping/receiving, or supply chain operations.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, and transportation logistics.
- Experience working with ERP systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and logistics software.
- Valid forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
