Sheridan Automation (a division of Sheridan Electric) is part of a fast-growing company across Ontario servicing the industrial sector. Our clients include Food and Beverage, Plastics, Automotive, and other manufacturing clients. We are looking for talented and motivated thinkers to add to our team of automation and controls systems professionals.
This position will have you involved in the complete life cycle of the project from concept and design to programming and start up of automated processes. We also support our customers and their production through troubleshooting and servicing of manufacturing equipment. Our customers and solutions are focused within the Greater Toronto Area, which means no travel requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting of process equipment and instrumentation including HMIs, PLCs, Drives, Servos, Safety Systems, flow meters and more. You will be part of a team of electrical automation engineers and technicians and thus have access to strong technical support when needed

Program PLCs, HMIs, PACs, industrial PC and more for a variety of industrial automation scenarios

Integration, programming and start up of AC/DC and Servo drives

Design electrical control solutions based on custom requirements using the latest versions of E-Plan and / or AutoCAD

Design and integrate safety monitoring systems and safety circuitry solutions in the latest safety PLCs or incorporate safety relays, light curtains, scanners, safety mats and more into new and existing equipment

Create functional descriptions, flow charts, and control narratives for automation systems and adaptations

Quote solutions for customer’s needs and requirements

Configure and Implement SCADA systems using Ignition, Wonderware etc.

Produce electrical drawings reflecting changes or ad

Programming, commissioning, and servicing of robot systems (willing to train the right candidate)

Be willing to be on call on a rotating basis, for one week, approximately once every seven (7) weeks or (8) weeks
Experience Required:
-
Minimum 5 years field experience in an industrial automation environment, with emphasis on design, service, and problem solving skills, preference will be given for candidates with between 5-10 years.

A strong programming knowledge base in Allen Bradley or Siemens (other platforms, such as Omron or Mitsubishi will be considered a valuable asset).

Experience using E-Plan / AutoCAD Electrical to design control panels would be considered an asset

Experience in SCADA including Ignition or Wonderware would be considered an asset

Electrical license 309A or 442A in an industrial process environment, would be considered an asset.

Control Systems Technologist or Engineering education or equivalent would be considered an asset.

Chosen candidate must be mechanically inclined and excel at using tools to accomplish hands-on tasks.

Outstanding written and verbal communications skills and the ability to speak to and address customer needs.

A proven record of controls experience and an aptitude for learning.

Preference will be given to candidates with prior instrumentation experience.

Excellent working knowledge of the Ontario and Canadian Electrical Code.

Must possess a valid class G Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
